Human Centered Design Process

Join us for our rescheduled event where Jamaal Davis will talk to us about Human-centered design (HCD). While not recognized as a technique in the BABOK, we think you'll recognize how HCD can be applied to your BA practices!

Jamaal Davis is a human-centered service and product design manager. Jamaal has always been driven by a strong desire to help others. He’s the Customer Experience (CX) Manager for Allegheny County Department of Human Services, where he oversees user experience and voice of customer data for a number of digital products and services. Jamaal is a lifelong learner and a graduate of The Interaction Design Foundation and udacity. He is a 2020 Black Tech Nation (BTN) influencer who focuses on bridging the gap between black American “techies” and America’s mainstream tech community. He designed The Digital Career Accelerator, a blended learning workforce development program for underrepresented populations in tech provided by the Google and Goodwill partnership. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Philosophy and a Nanodegree in Digital Marketing created by Udacity in collaboration with Google, Facebook, and Hootsuite. He is a self-taught human-centered designer and programmer, who loves to stay up to date on new technologies. Jamaal is passionate about finding new ways to leverage these technologies to create a more equitable society. When Jamaal is not in front of a computer, you can find him reading self-improvement books, or training for an obstacle course race, like the Spartan Race or Tough Mudders Race.

By the end of the session participants will be able to:

1. Participants will be able to describe the humans center design process.
2. Participants will be able to identify ways that HCD can be incorporated into this work.
3. Participants will be able to understand how a HCD can support equity in their work
